This is a question that I was asked recently. Why do I stick to an abstract personality rather than provide a name and information on who I actually am?
No it is not because I am scared of an invasion of privacy or am paranoid a stalker will track me to my home and beat all the future posts out of me or perhaps even hug me to death. (I’m not Emma Watson of course.)
The reason is quite simple. The problems I face in my education are generic. They are not specific to me but millions of students around the world face the same issues. High costs, uncertainty, a poor future and lack of jobs. This has been proven true by the vast response I have received from people all over the world who in some cases have it worse than me. Their fees are even higher than the £9,000 a year that I will have to pay for university.
I have also met people who have been extremely understanding of the issues students face despite being way past their own student life- no I am not calling you people old! I am saying that people care, people are unselfish and this gives me hope.
So the name A Worried Student is there because my blog shows how a student’s life is. I am not claiming to be THE voice for students worldwide but I can certainly claim to be A voice for students.
Of course and as you may have noticed, my posts are not all centered on students and their problems but this merely reflects that as students, we do live in this world with our eyes open, aware of and noticing things rather than being the single-minded creatures that some may believe we are.
So A Worried Student is here to stay and even if one day I do reveal my name, it would not be in the form of changing my blog’s name for rather than being abstract, A Worried Student could be any of the millions of students who have been marginalised and sterotyped by society.
Thanks for reading,
Until Next Time,
A Worried Student
Oddly, I never thought about it. 🙂

I like the name/title/header. Similar to mine, I wanted something that was kind of generic and pertains to a lot people in our little world.

Hey there,
My daughter too worries – as do her parents. College for her is but 2 short years off and I wish we had more financially to give. But we, like many, will do our best in acquiring loans…
We hope our education is not in vain and we find employment in our chosen fields – life does have a funny way of sometimes throwing us in other directions…

ps See now the inspired jacket art has led to tee shirts…life and blogs are funny that way 😉

It must be difficult for parents as well. In the UK, we have a student loan system which means it is ‘easy’ to pay for university, of course you end up with a huge loan at the end. It is extremely difficult for people who cannot get these types of loans out however and in that way, they are similar to other students around the world.
Good luck to you! 🙂 Hopefully it all works out 🙂
Certainly it does. Haha I have noticed 😀

There will be people who know who you are and others who will know you, so what you are called and what you call yourself is immaterial.

Yup! I’m not changing what I am called, merely what my blog is called. I guess there is a difference 🙂
